a surreal state of mind

Since I've been back from Oregon, it's been life as usual. I've been trying to make the most of the last days of summer. Spending time with my family. Back to school shopping, sorting, straightening, working...but oddly enough not a lot of daily photography. I haven't put down my camera on purpose. The days just seem to escape me with very few photos to show for it.

Needless to say I let Monday come (and almost go) without a shot for Best Shot Monday. Sifting through my summer archives, I found this landscape. The vibe of this shot reflects how I am feeling these days. A little off my game. A tad disoriented. Not sure what side is up or which side is down.

I'm sure that once our routine kicks in (mere days away) I will begin to regain some clarity and sure-footedness. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

How about you? Did this week catch you off-guard at all or do you have your photo ducks in a row for us on this fine fleeting Monday?

It's been a while since I stopped by, but I see you're still cranking out intriguing images. :) What a fine photo to go along with your current state of mind.

My BSM, Patio Play, is up.

It's a holiday weekend, I'm a little discombooberated as well.

Our plans for the water went haywire for today.

I think we were sitting down to this task at the exact same time this week. Such a longing in that shot. I remember at the start of the summer, you bracing for the whirlwind ahead and it sounds like it has been. Hope your girls enjoy a fantastic start to the new school year ahead---and you as well!

My shot this week: the bee's knees.

I believe my photos are in order. I have been giving people a peek in my journals on my blog and I actually prepared ahead of time so that this is a meaningful series. I have been discovering a few things about myself in the process.

I have been 'missing in action' for quite some time (been gone a lot this summer) and hope I haven't been 'thrown out' of this wonderful BSM group?!? Thanks for sharing all the wonderful and beautiful photos from EVERYONE, I've enjoyed catching up.

Funny that you should post about being a tad disoriented - that's been my state of being as well. I've not been shooting regularly either, mostly just using my camera phone to grab a few fun shots at the park. Luckily I still got a shot I loved.

For me, these days are too busy in a very real but still disorienting way. I'm trying to focus on the plain and simple, the good things that come naturally. On a recent Saturday, apples did the trick.
