a word on summer

I have volumes to say about this image. About how each time I look at it my heart skips a beat. About how sometimes it feels like a dream that my daughters are growing up so fast and so beautiful. But, the words don't really do it. I can't really articulate it well enough; how I feel when gaze at this long-legged, funny, creative, bright, compassionate, gorgeous human-being. How can it be that she, my very first baby has become this amazing (big) person? So, even though there might be words...sometimes words don't say enough. The photo says it all.

Check out the new One Word Project theme at Shutter Sisters. Can you guess what the perfect word for the season is?

Stunning beyond words. I feel this, too, what you describe, when I look at Aviva and she looks at me with eyes that big and deep and wise, a self so possessed and confident and beautiful it knocks me over sometimes.

yes ....it is fascinating to witness as a mother...what a very special gift seeing the growth in our children.

I find this part of motherhood to be painfully joyful.
I can look at my boys-all growed up and think I could cry and soar with happiness all at the same time.

Thank god for photos.
So I can travel back into their eyes....

I love your photograohy:)

This is, by far, my face portrait I have ever seen of her.

You know, often I speak of how your youngest looks just like you...but here, I see you in every inch of her face. I see strength, too. The beauty goes without saying.

Perfect portrait and words from mother.

I know exactly how you feel. My oldest is 11. There are times when I look at him and just stop to stare because I can almost see the man he's becoming. It's happening so very fast, which makes me a little sad but also oh, so proud.

Such a lovely shot of your daughter. I always feel so sad when I come across a picture that shows me that my daughter is growing up. I want to stop time, but it's like trying to catch the rain in your hands--you have it for a moment but it slips through your fingers so easily.

Wow, Tracey. This is amazing. Your words, this image... just so moving. I really aspire to capture moments as successfully and brilliantly as you!

I can hardly bear the feelings that wash over me when I look at this picture.
I feel like you should still be this age and I should be you.
Turn around and you're 2
Turn around and you're 4
Turn around and you're a young girl
going out of the door...
I love you and thank you for this lovely and bittersweet moment.

This is a fantastic shot, Tracy! WOW. She is a fierce beauty, like you. I love how intense she looks. Like you said, there are no words...

Wow Tracey! This is a beautiful picture.

It breaks my heart when I realize my own boys are growing up so rapidly.
