When Mom is Away

Are you my mama?

After a grand party at the Mom 2.0 Summit and a great night sleep in a big yummy hotel bed I woke to an email with this photo attached.

I guess, as I have been away the right dog we have been looking for did indeed find us. Photo courtesy of my husband and his Mac web cam.

You might remember our original dog experience back in December and ever since then we've been back and forth on what our next move should be. But, the whole pet topic has not been laid to rest since then.

People have come out of the woodwork by way of conversations, emails and  blog posts offering advice and thoughts on 'how-to' find the right pet. Soaking it all in and truly appreciating every word, I was holding out with this belief that somehow the whole pet dilemma would be resolved when the right pet found us. I admittedly popped onto Craigs list and Petfinder.com a few times thinking that maybe there'd be a furry face that stood out in the crowd. With each dog we looked at, read about, heard about, my heart failed to sing. None the less, I just had this feeling that something, someone, somewhere would be a perfect fit.

And now, I introduce to you the little dog that seems like Little Miss Right.

Hi Tracey. I've been subscribed to your blog for some time now and I look forward to resubscribing to the new feed. I recently switched platforms as well and can certainly relate to the sentimental shift your are experiencing in the move. Even though it is a good move, 3 years in one bloggy place is a long time! I love the new site. Very grown up and lovely. Can't wait to look around.

Oh Tracey, she is so sweet! I hope she does become yours! Our dog, duke-the-Dog, is a rescue dog. rescued right out from under our bedroom window one day. We put ads in the paper and everything, but no one claimed him. He was thin, sore, and scared and now he is well loved by two boys and is king of the house! (so he thinks...) http://justaddcolor.blogspot.com/2009/01/and-now-word-from-duke-dog-about.html

Little Miss Right is adorable.

That's so neat when the right animal finds the right family. I think about that when we got our free horse, Samson. As a horse shoer my husband often finds himself helping others sell or trade horses. But this one time, a family had a foundered horse who wasn't doing well and we took him and now he's wonderful. I hope she works out for you too.

Although when Mom isn't looking my litlte one builds things out of the couch cushions.

I admire and applaud the second go! I think it's great that the dog issue was tabled rather than tossed. And the photo seems an appropriate first "meeting."
